The Legitimacy of New Bible Translations

The Holy Bible is the recorded word of God and a gracious gift that communicates His love, judgments, and teachings. We read in the beginning how clearly His words were understood by the first man and his wife. When confronted by the serpent in the garden, the woman had no trouble recalling the exact instructions the Heavenly Father had given her. Unfortunately, the serpent’s wiles quickly began trying to twist, distort and corrupt the pure, holy words of God.

CHURCH MEMBERSHIP Church membership is not only a great privilege, but it is also a great responsibility. Since Christ is the Head of the Church, it is an exclusive organization. (Eph. 1:22).

I. WHAT IS A CHURCH?

1. The word translated “church” in the New Testament simply means “an assembly” or literally “called out ones”. A church is a group of believers “called out” of the world (Acts 15:14) by the Holy Spirit, assembled together as the people of God to carry out His orders and to glorify His name.
2. The word “church” in the Bible refers to local churches who have covenanted together to carry out the Great Commission and observe the ordinances given by the Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 16:5; Gal. 1:2; Matt. 18:20).

DEACONS

The Church that Jesus started during his personal ministry on earth has two officers. The officers of the Lord’s Church are Pastors and Deacons. The Bible makes reference to pastors as bishops or elders. This article deals with deacons. Deacons are to be servants of the Church and not rulers of the Church; however, Deacons are to be be leaders. Without leadership in any organization, whether in a church, club or athletic program, we usually find chaos. Deacons are first mentioned in Acts 6:1-6.

ASSURANCE Assurance is the intellectual and spiritual certainty that one belongs to God and possesses salvation. God does not want His child to be in doubt about his salvation. The Bible plainly states that a person can and should KNOW that he is on the way to Heaven and that knowing this he may enjoy his salvation.

The Holy Spirit

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:16, 17

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
