Saved and Certain

The Fact, the Faith and the Feeling

The Fact

The fact is that in order to be saved, one must realize and acknowledge the fact that he is lost. Man is separated from God because of sin and without hope outside the mercy of God. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

Romans 3:19 “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” Isaiah 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

By nature, our inherent sinful life is passed on to the human family by our forefather Adam. His sin separates man from God. We don’t have to do anything to become sinners. We are sinful by birth and by nature. The Psalmist David said of himself, “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me” (Psalms 51:5). He further states the condition of the human heart; “The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies” (Psalms 58:3). A tiny baby, before it learns to walk or talk, learns to lie. The baby can be in bed and begin to cry as if it were dying, and at the moment someone picks it up, it becomes very calm. In a sense, the baby is lying. It wasn’t sick or hurting but wants someone to take it up. Notice the awful state man is in before God; Read the rest of this entry »

BASIC CHRISTIANITY L3

CHURCH MEMBERSHIP Church membership is not only a great privilege, but it is also a great responsibility. Since Christ is the Head of the Church, it is an exclusive organization. (Eph. 1:22).

I. WHAT IS A CHURCH?

  1. The word translated “church” in the New Testament simply means “an assembly” or literally “called out ones”. A church is a group of believers “called out” of the world (Acts 15:14) by the Holy Spirit, assembled together as the people of God to carry out His orders and to glorify His name.
  2. The word “church” in the Bible refers to local churches who have covenanted together to carry out the Great Commission and observe the ordinances given by the Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 16:5; Gal. 1:2; Matt. 18:20). Read the rest of this entry »

A CHRISTIAN DOCTOR

HOW A CHRISTIAN DOCTOR CAN SERVE HIS COMMUNITY

Four letters express to a degree my thoughts on how any lay person including a doctor can serve his community as he or she serves the Lord. They are TELL which stand for Testimony, Empathy, Labour, and Love.

The most important tool of service any Christian physician has is their testimony of a personal experience with Jesus. At every opportunity we must seek to tell what God has done for us through Christ. Our testimony may be given with meekness and humility and we must rely on his Spirit to give us the right words at the right time as we remember how Jesus always had the time and appropriate approach to those he came upon who were in need. Our lives should back up our testimony as will be discussed with the other three aspects of TELL. But nothing we do can replace the direct expression of our new birth experience. when experiencing fear

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
II Timothy 1:7

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Romans 8:15

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

BASIC CHRISTIANITY L2

ASSURANCE Assurance is the intellectual and spiritual certainty that one belongs to God and possesses salvation. God does not want His child to be in doubt about his salvation. The Bible plainly states that a person can and should KNOW that he is on the way to Heaven and that knowing this he may enjoy his salvation. Read the rest of this entry »

How to Develop Obedience? vs. Willfulness

What is obedience? Receiving instruction, correction, provision, and protection through the Biblical jurisdiction of parents, civil authorities, church leaders, and employers or educators.

  • What does obedience mean? Obedience is wise submission to the will of those whom God has placed over us.
  • True obedience is an attitude rather than an action.
  • It does not require us to violate the higher law of God.
  • The Hebrew word for obedience is shame which means “to listen intelligently; to be attentive; to respond to a call: to consent.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Holy Spirit

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:16, 17

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you thing: to come.
John 16:7, 13 Read the rest of this entry »

Will Ye Also Go Away?

John 6:67
There are many people today who claim to be followers of God and Jesus Christ, His Son. However, there is a distinctive character that separates the true follower from the false or superficial professor of Christ. Just as it was during the time when Jesus walked upon this earth in the body of his flesh, so it is today. There are those who remain and those who fall away. Jesus is still asking this question today, “Will ye also go away?” Do you know how you will respond and why? Read the rest of this entry »

What You Can Do To Please God

Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. This people have I formed for myself, they shall shew forth my praise.
Isaiah 43:7, 21

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
